Empowering Teen Mothers in Ngoma: A New Chapter of Opportunity through TAMU Pads

The Edward Musonera Foundation (EMF) and Inovos Ltd have officially launched a collaborative job creation initiative in the Kibungo Sector of Ngoma District. This partnership targets 50 teen mothers in its initial phase, equipping them with the skills to become community-based sales agents for locally manufactured TAMU sanitary pads. By combining professional entrepreneurship mentoring with essential Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) education, the initiative provides a sustainable pathway out of poverty. "We don't just create sanitary pads, we engineer confidence," remains the guiding vision as these young women take the lead in distributing high-quality menstrual hygiene products within their own communities.

On February 12, 2026, a transformative partnership between the Edward Musonera Foundation (EMF) and Inovos Ltd took a significant step forward in Ngoma District, Kibungo Sector. This collaborative initiative is dedicated to empowering vulnerable young women, specifically teen mothers, by integrating economic opportunity with essential health education.

A Vision for Economic Independence

The core of this initiative is a robust Sales Agents Engagement & Job Creation Initiative. Recognizing that teen mothers often face long-term poverty without targeted support, the program seeks to provide them with sustainable income-generating activities.

  • Job Creation Goal: The partnership aims to support 250 teen mothers in total, training them to serve as community-based sales agents.

  • Localized Impact: During the recent session, the goal was to onboard 50 teen mothers from the local community into the network, with a pilot of 10 agents per sector.

  • Business Training: Participants received training on the sales process, pricing, and a clear commission structure, ensuring they have the tools to succeed as entrepreneurs.

Beyond Business: Menstrual Health and Support

This partnership is unique because it combines Inovos Ltd’s social enterprise model—centered on the locally manufactured TAMU sanitary pads—with EMF’s deep capacity for community engagement and psychosocial support.

  • Menstrual Hygiene: The initiative provides access to affordable, high-quality TAMU pads, which are featured as 100% leak-proof, UV sterilized, and perfume-free products.

  • Holistic Education: Beyond sales, the program integrates Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) education and menstrual health management sessions.

  • Community Support: EMF provides critical mobilization and psychosocial support to ensure these young women are empowered both economically and personally.

Looking Forward

Led by Liliane Uwineza (CEO of Inovos Ltd) and Hamidah Nnakubulwa (Executive Director of EMF), this project is more than just a business venture. It is a commitment to ensuring that every girl and woman in Rwanda can manage her period with dignity while building a future of financial independence.

Through monthly performance tracking and quarterly reviews, the partnership will continue to monitor income improvements and the expansion of the distribution reach, ensuring a lasting impact in Ngoma and beyond.
